Summary/Abstract: Geodetic maps of Opatów from the years 1944–1948, marked with the term “post-Jewish,” prompt a reflection on the status of maps as instruments of colonization, following J. B. Harley. I compare them with memory maps created by Jews from the formershtetl of Opatów, as well as with recollections found in Księga pamięci Opatowa (OpatówMemorial Book) and Mayer Kirshenblatt’s book. By employing the categories of birthplaceand motherliness related to memory maps, I contrast them with the political geodeticmaps of Opatów, which belong to the appropriating fatherliness domain. What potentialdoes juxtaposing such maps have in the digital world? Can the digital environmentadequately reflect a culture of motherliness that adopts a constellation schema?
