Summary/Abstract: Her ears were so large that you’d burst out laughing the moment you laid eyes on her. And the laughter grew inside you, because the disproportion between her ears and the rest of her head became more obvious the longer you looked. For those who simply passed by, it was easy—their laughter faded as they walked away. But for those who sat face to face with her, the situation was awkward; everyone eventually burst into laughter, even if the conversation had absolutely nothing funny about it. / If until now I’ve selectively commented on the marks left on Holban’s novel by the refined and 'harsh' reader that was Șerban Cioculescu, let’s now see where (and how) the professional and, as much as possible, objective critic steps in. Because ultimately, that’s what I found intriguing about the novel filled with the critic’s notes and highlights: it seemed like a gateway into his workshop.
