The effective maintenance strategy on the example of a company from the manufacturing industry

Summary/Abstract: Research objectives and hypothesis/research questionsAnalysis of the production system in terms of the effectiveness of the maintenance strategy ear. Thepurpose of the study is to define the factors that affect the effectiveness of the maintenance strategy ina selected manufacturing company.Research methodsThe study used two research tools: observation and quantitative data analysis. Observation of the routinework that maintenance services perform was carried out, and based on this, the results obtained werecompared with the objectives of the implemented maintenance strategy. Then an analysis of the collectedquantitative data from SAP for 2024 was carried out on two types of activities: preventive and predictive.Main resultsBuilding an effective maintenance strategy is an area that requires constant integration with the pro-duction area. Cooperation in this area makes the case that the implemented management system bringstangible benefits to each party. Both preventive and predictive activities are carried out on the basis ofthe applied maintenance strategy. From the point of view of the operation of the technical department, itis also important to emphasize the role of employees. The maintenance service is made up of experiencedemployees and it is experience that is one of the bases for the effectiveness of the maintenance strategy.The results of the study indicate the effectiveness of the maintenance strategy. This is confirmed by theachievement of established results and the search for the best methods of continuous improvement ofmaintenance processes.Implications for theory and practiceThe implementation of a properly selected maintenance strategy is designed not only to improve theperformance of technical departments, but also to contribute to value creation and the achievement ofestablished goals. The selection of a maintenance strategy should be the result of a complex analysisof the business and the future vision of the company.
