Summary/Abstract: This paper presents some of the most significant tombstones (bos. nišan, pl. nišani): their types, the time periods from which they originate, as well as the meanings of certain stonemasonry decorations commonly found on Bosnian tombstones. The text covers a segment of a visit to Kaćuni and Vukeljići, located in the area of Busovača and Fojnica, followed by an analysis and synthesis of the current state on the ground. The main focus is on old tombstones as a rich source for researching our past. The aim of the paper is to offer a new perspective on our tradition, as well as on our preserved material remnants from the past.
