Summary/Abstract: Aim: The purpose of the study was to investigate the level of technical efficiency and scale efficiency of regional courts in the period 2015-2022 in the civil divisions, criminal and misdemeanour divisions and labour and social security divisions of regional courts. Methodology: The data envelopment approach (DEA) was used to calculate the technical efficiency coefficients in the study. Forty-three of the 47 regional courts were surveyed between 2015 and 2022. Results: In the civil divisions, the average CCR ranged from 88.9% (2022) to 98.1% (2015). In criminal divisions, it ranged from 95.1% (2018) to 98.0% (2017), and in labour and social security divisions, it formed from 81.5% (2016) to 94.6% (2021). Civil divisions with fewer than 16 judges are characterised by higher CCR technical efficiency compared to courts with more than 16 judges. In the criminal and misdemeanour and labour and social security divisions of the regional courts, when comparing the technical efficiency of the CCR, no significant difference in technical efficiency was found according to the number of judges. Implications and recommendations: The results of the research can be used to evaluate the management of the regional courts under study, identify best practices and plan organisational changes. Originality/value: The article is a thematically original work. There is a clear research gap in the Polish economic literature regarding the evaluation of court management.
