Summary/Abstract: Kornél Laboda’s second novel, Gavarin és az álomantenna was published in the Absolute Books series by Pagony Publishing and won the Children’s Book of the Year Award in 2022. This novel tells the story of an extraordinary space journey: the pro¬tagonist Gavarin’s alienation (from home, school, childhood) becomes the source for a galactic voyage. The space journey is a series of adventures: Gavarin first encoun¬ters exotic things in the universe: unusual creatures and foods, planets and phenom¬ena, and on his exploration he will be joined by his companions. They have a strange mystery to unravel: the mystery of the “dreamlessness” and greying of the universe. This road movie or science fiction dystopia is, of course, not only about an external journey, but also about an internal one: our study will examine how, in this young adult novel, the creation of identity, the recovery of the face, is achieved within the framework of a dystopian world; how an adolescent boy finds himself between the experience of escapism as a starting narrative and the experience of anti-utopia based on an authoritarian social order.
