Summary/Abstract: The outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022 presented Europe and its neigh¬boring countries with numerous challenges in the field of refugee care. Hungary was particularly affected in terms of refugee reception, as it had to fulfill a dual function: on the one hand, as a transit country, it helped refugees reach Western Europe, and on the other hand, it had to organize the care of groups remaining in the country. Sev¬eral charitable organizations also participated in this work, which, in addition to basic social care, ensured access to services for families and children placed in reception camps. In our study, we examined the work of a civil organization operating in a coun¬ty seat in eastern Hungary, specifically the experiences of Roma children arriving as refugees from Transcarpathia with access to education and their integration through this system. During the research, we applied a qualitative methodology to examine the situation of the group from the perspective of the professionals working with them. We explored the ways in which children were able to enter the education system, and we examined the experiences in educational institutions, highlighting both the difficulties and the results of educating refugee children.
