Summary/Abstract: Manuchar (Nanucha) Tsitsishvili is mainly known in our literary studies as an interpolator of the text of Vepkhistkaosni, a forger, whose work is mentioned in a negative context by researchers of Vepkhistkaosni and in general, ancient Georgian writing. This attitude undoubtedly derives from the assessment of the king-poet Archili (XVII-XVII s) , who gave a strongly negative assessment of Manutsar Tsitsishvili's work in the poem "Gabaaseba (controversy) of King Teimuraz and Rustaveli". Nanucha Tsitsishvili was considered one of the most interesting and influential figures and writers in Kartli of his time. According to us, he was also the author of the original poems, in addition to the included stanzas of "The Leopardskin". At the same time, he was known in the society of his time as a wise scribe and mamulishvili. We think that the established opinion about Manuchar Tsitsishvili as a forger needs to be revised and the conflicting reports that exist about this figure's poetic abilities and works should be reconciled.
