Summary/Abstract: Globalization today, while increasing access to information on a near-global level, presents a few issues in terms of cross-cultural communication, specifically when one refers to the field of legal translation. The existence of multiple legal systems with specific terminology makes it impossible to accurately translate from one language to another without proper information on the part of the translator, both with regards to the term in the source language and the one in the target language. The present paper aims to discuss the difference in translation practices with specific focus on legal texts, looking at the available online aid (eTranslation) for translators of legal texts in English and Romanian. The paper aims to look at the English translation of the Romanian Penal Code available at https://legislatie.just.ro/ and compare it to the translation of the Penal Code of Romanian produced by the eTranslation online platform, emphasizing the differences in the translations of the Penal Code.
