Summary/Abstract: At this moment, humanity is going through a profound change. The ongoing change is total, it entwines with all cultural sectors, faith, norms, values, the world of ideas. Despite the great amount of information accessible today through current technology, we continue to ignore the spiritual component, the inner breath that animates us. The daily distribution of billions of images leads us to think that we are witnessing a new economy of the image, in which everyone is a beneficiary and a supplier, transformed into a profitable and controllable object at the same time. The man of the screens has lost some of his skills, he suffers from multiple and combined infirmities. The new formatted, distributive culture, which enables permanent connectivity, affects the cortical activity and the spiritual strength of the people who have entered, willingly or unwillingly, into this labyrinth of the image. This use, considered by most of us as indispensable, yet uncontrollable, of television, of the permanent activation of screens, provides so much information that is difficult to prioritize, making us forget about the real communication, that of the spirit. The Desert Fathers and the Eastern Orthodox spirituality follow and preach the hard/difficult way, the narrow path, the little that you have, the concern for the inner world, simplicity, silence, tranquility.
