Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to synthesise the contributions of Polish theorists of politics to the development of empirical research methods in political science. The author presents the lines of reflection on research methods undertaken within the theory of politics, distinguishing eight basic approaches: analytical, popularising and training, didactic, methodological, adaptive, practical, reconstructive and critical. Each of these approaches to the issues of methodology is characterised and illustrated with examples of representative works.
