Summary/Abstract: In this issue's theme, consisting of three independent testimonies, we explore the years of German occupation and the Warsaw Uprising. Long deprived of their agency, the occupied take up the fight against the occupier – physically and psychologically: 1) Izabella Horodecka, "Eliminating the Enemy" – the memoirs of a female intelligence officer in a Home Army unit tasked with eliminating enemies in occupied Warsaw; Georges Rencki, "The Apparent Offensive" – a young boy's account of the beginnings of the Warsaw Uprising, translated for the first time from French; Aleksiej Rogozin, Iskra-Dog Action – a compilation of sources describing the spectacular operation undertaken in August 1944 by Edward Serwański in towns near Warsaw to record the fate of the dying capital.
