Summary/Abstract: This study investigates the impact of the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) on the development of small-scale enterprises (SSEs) in Nigeria. Data were collected from 40 payphone centre owners in Apapa using questionnaires. Results showed that 80% of respondents agreed that GSM improved the standard of Nigerian SSEs, while 65% disagreed that GSM impacts only the Nigerian economy, not small-scale entrepreneurs. 72.5% strongly agreed that GSM created job opportunities and helped reduce unemployment, and 57.5% strongly agreed it aids in crime reduction. However, 70% cited high tariffs as a major barrier. The results highlight GSM's transformative impact on SSEs while emphasizing the need for a unified tariff structure to maximize its potential.
