Summary/Abstract: This paper is dedicated to investigating how reformulation is used in specialised setting by students interacting in intercomprehension; the study is based on the analysis of seven interactions among 24 students of Industrial Engineering, from Italy, Brazil and Argentina. The first part of the paper will illustrate the phenomenon of reformulation from a linguistic, textual and pragmatic perspective, since it is crucial to define the coding scheme used in the analysis. Then, the context in which the data was collected, during a synchronous, unsupervised guided task, will be described along with methodology of analysis. Afterwards, the paper will provide insights into how students use reformulation while interacting and what contributions it gives to the success of plurilingual communication. Such observations will provide new perspectives on intercomprehension strategies, opening new paths for intercomprehension teaching.
