Summary/Abstract: This study provides an interpretative analysis of the unpublished prose *Evžen*, written by Zdeněk Barborka, and situates it within the broader context of unpublished literature during the normalization period in Czechoslovakia. Barborka, known for his experimental poetry, retreated into creative isolation after 1968 but continued exploring existential themes of collective and individual memory and the authenticity of human existence. These themes are central to his late prose, which features short stories and postmodern studies. Barborka's prose offers crucial and relevant themes, representing an under-explored area in Czech literary history.
