Summary/Abstract: The paper proposes a shift in the paradigm of foreign language teaching informed by the ENLACED Erasmus+ project. It aims to suggest a new model of modernizing foreign language education at the tertiary level through a digitally enhanced, challenge-based learning approach focused on European citizenship and democracy. The theoretical framework highlights the most significant contributions to the topic, including European educational policies. The practical section presents findings from five focus group interviews conducted in four European countries with the purpose of exploring how foreign language education could be enhanced through digitally mediated language learning.
