Summary/Abstract: The Ábel trilogy by Áron Tamási, Ábel a rengetegben – Abel in the Woods (1932), Ábel az országban – Abel in the Country (1933), Ábel Amerikában – Abel in America (1934), a paradigmatic work of Hungarian literature in Transylvania in the 1930s, presents in a parabolic way the existential problems of the Hungarian community under Romanian rule. This study examines how two contemporary Szekler novels Módos asszony üres kézzel – A Rich Woman with Empty Hands (2017) by Kincső Tamás and A fák magukhoz húzzák az esőt – The Trees Attract the Rain (2024) by Ferenc Zsidó enter into dialogue with this hypotext. They present country life critically, without illusions but the language and main motifs form them into hypertexts of the trilogy written in the last century.
