Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to trace the changes in the settlement networks and outline the population migration processes in a specific region based on the tax registers over a three-century period, taking into account the intensity of the factors impacting people’s behaviour in the area during that period. The research is based on data, mainly extracted from, the tax registers for the Sofia district focusing on a small area of settlements located northwest of the town of Sofia at the intersection of the main roads to Niš and Belgrade, Vidin and Vratsa.
