Summary/Abstract: Regardless of the mechanism by which they are generated, traits are generally defined as overarching tendencies in people's cognitions, emotions, or behaviors that are not confined to specific situations. This article addresses conceptual issues and limitations associated with the trait approach to studying moral behavior and explores how prosocial and self-care personality traits relevant to moral autotelism are operationalised.
