Summary/Abstract: In recent decades, the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adulthood has become a topical issue that has not yet been adequately addressed. Many young people today, mainly in their 20s and 30s, are asking themselves: do I have ADHD? There are important practical and theoretical questions relating to their needs, their motivation for seeking this diagnosis and how this can be achieved. Diagnosing the condition in adulthood involves conducting a psychological assessment to objectively determine the presence of cognitive characteristics through test results, as well as psychometrically assessing basic personality, cognitive and emotional characteristics for differential diagnosis purposes. ADHD in adults is characterized by features that can also be observed in many other conditions. However, these other conditions may coexist with ADHD. Mood disorders, substance use/abuse, personality disorders and autistic traits are just some of the conditions that may coexist with or mimic ADHD.
