Summary/Abstract: In addition to the five treaties that form the core of international space law, the resolutions adoptedby the United Nations General Assembly have served as a tool for influencing the framework oflegal regulations governing space activities by the States. These instruments, which constitute thesoft law of international law, have fulfilled different functions depending on the period in whichthey were adopted. In the period preceding the so-called era of treaty law, the resolutions laid thefoundation for the establishment of a binding legal framework to regulate space activities. Duringthe so-called UNGA resolutions era, the States adopted resolutions that served as instruments toshape the principles governing specific aspects of state space activities. Resolutions adopted in thethird era, after 2004, have acted as instruments influencing the interpretation of the provisions ofspace treaties.
