Summary/Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To determine the positive effect of physical activity on the quality of life in older persons, their knowledge of the impact of physical activity on health and the physical activity of older persons in the homes for the elderly and infirm in the HNŽ. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This research was conducted in homes for the elderly and infirm in the HNŽ. The study involved 45 people. The criterion of involvement was both sexes, older age (65 and over), communicative persons, and exclusion factors: age of less than 65 years, immobile persons, people with some serious disease. The paper was written based on a survey. The survey questionnaire consists of 5 parts. An example of a questionnaire is attached to the Master’s thesis. RESULTS: Given the results of research, it can be said that physical activity in older age has more advantages than deficiencies. Some of the benefits are better physical and mental health, improved overall quality of life, more vital energy, better mobility, less painful movement, better body stance, maintaining body weight, improving skin and muscle quality, relaxation and reduced stress and better sleep. I also conclude that the participants need to expand their knowledge of physical activity and how they affect health, and increase their motivation for physical activity. Very few people in the homes are engaged in physical activities and I think that the residents would be more informed about the effects of physical activity on the health and motivated to increase that number. Health workers could improve the education of the spouses about physical activities and by designing different interesting activities in the groups to motivate them to deal with bodily activities. CONCLUSION: There are various theories about aging, how it comes about and why. One thing is for sure, aging affects many changes in the body and on all orga nic systems. With regular physical activity, many of these changes can be alleviated, and many diseases that are “normal” with age can be prevented. Each and even the smallest physical activity makes a person more mobile, more satisfied, and allows you to enjoy the charms of every age, and especially the older, third life age.
