Designations for the Fishing Gear Seine in Karelian

Summary/Abstract: This is the first comprehensive study of the principles of designation of the fishing gear seine in in dialects of Karelian. The aim of the study is an overview of semantic motivation, etymology and word formation of the lemmata in question. The relevance of the research is seen in the need to study the lexical composition of Karelian. As a result of the study, more than 40 dialectal expressions for various types of seine could been identified and analysed for their structure and origin.
