Summary/Abstract: The article represents an extensive review of the specialized scientific literature, with the aim of analyzing, synthesizing and highlighting the most relevant theoretical benchmarks related to language and communication. These benchmarks, fundamental to understanding the complexity of these psychological and social processes, are discussed from various disciplinary perspectives, providing an overview of how language influences and mediates cognitive, affective and interpersonal processes. Through this approach, the paper focuses on the identification of key theories and concepts that have significantly contributed to the understanding of language as a system of signs and as a psychological process, as well as communication as an essential social act in the development and organization of human societies.
