Summary/Abstract: This study critically examines Milo Urban's journalistic writings from 1921-1939, analyzing thematic content, ideological stances, stylistic specifics, and contemporary metaphors. The research draws on 208 newspaper articles, mainly from the daily *Slovák*, where Urban served as an editor. Analyzing his earlier journalism in the context of his later work at the daily *Gardista* (1940-1945) offers a complete picture of this writer and intellectual in Slovak history. The 1920s saw Urban focusing on social issues; the 1930s saw his language shift with societal radicalization, increasingly criticizing Czechoslovakism and capitalism. While not a member of the HSĽS or Hlinka Guard, his articles aligned with the party's program, contributing to a discourse that solidified nationalist ideology. His later role at *Gardista* thus appears as a gradual development. The study also critically examines Urban’s 1930 trial stemming from his article "Beware of the Sabre!".
