The fox in ancient fables and its representations

Summary/Abstract: In the case of animal representations, it is difficult to reveal the connection with any ancient fable tradition.The fox, the most common animal in the Aesopic corpus, is maybe the only exception. Since its figure is popular in the Greek mentality, it is not surprising to see the first fable representations connected to the fox. Its figure appears on different types of objects with different purposes - from humoristic to funerary.
