The new rules aim to align Romanian legislation with international standards and eliminate gaps that have allowed contradictory interpretations in practice. Key changes include setting the minimum age of consent at 16, extending the statute of limitations for rape on minors, clarifying aggravating circumstances, and introducing new related crimes, such as facilitating sexual acts between minors. This article analyzes the impact of these changes on the judicial system and highlights critical issues that require legislative clarification.
