Summary/Abstract: This study evaluates the disaster preparedness and recovery strategies at Kashim Ibrahim Library, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. A quantitative research methodology was adopted, specifically the survey research method, using a total enumeration sampling technique with 25 library assistants, 20 library officers, and 15 supportive staff from all the librarians involved in preservation and maintenance at Kashim Ibrahim Library, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria serving as the sample. A 4-point Likert scale, closed-ended, structured questionnaire titled “Disaster Preparedness and Recovery in Academic Library Questionnaire (DPRALQ)” was used to collect data. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics, including frequency distribution tables, percentages, means, and standard deviations. Findings from the study indicate inadequate disaster preparedness due to the absence of modern fire suppression systems (M = 3.15), limited flood mitigation measures (M = 3.30), inadequate funding (M = 3.50), and a lack of staff training in disaster response (M = 3.33). Based on the study's findings, it is recommended that advanced disaster prevention technologies be adopted, regular staff training conducted, and a shift toward digital resources be made to enhance recovery capabilities.
