Summary/Abstract: Gornje Petrovice has been inhabited since the prehistoric period, and on the site of the former settlement there was also an ancient Roman fort. The presence of stećci tells us about life in this area during the medieval Bosnian state. With the arrival of the Ottomans, this region was part of the Zvornik Sandžak, and the first time that the settlement of Petrovice is mentioned is in the census from 1851. Until the Second World War, the population of this region was primarily engaged in farming, animal husbandry and fruit growing, given that it had an abundance of arable land located in Sprečko polje, and in 1896, the first craft shop was registered in this place. It is the blacksmith shop of Meho Bešić, which we can safely say is among the oldest registered craft workshops in the entire canton, and which is characteristically still working today. In addition to verified sources, numerous legends have been etched in the memory of the inhabitants, which are, to say the least, a sympathetic testimony o f a time and the life of people.
