Summary/Abstract: Having the great Renaissance scholar Erasmus of Rotterdam as its spiritual patron, the Erasmus+ programme coordinated by the European Commission reflects the European Union’s concern for the internationalisation of higher education. In connection with this program, European military universities have developed the European Military Youth Officer Exchange Initiative (EMILYO), known as the Military Erasmus, which gives future officers the opportunity to study abroad as both undergraduates and postgraduates. To facilitate the understanding of Erasmus+ programme, its evolution is presented and an illustrated description of its functioning, of the candidate selection process, and of the available financial support is equally provided.
