Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the research evaluation within the context of changes in scholarlycommunication and the roles of individuals involved in the research process. The authorindicates the shortcomings of the evaluation system – focused on quantitative indicators– so as to argue for the recognition of diverse research contributions and the inclusionof new forms of publication like enhanced publications, databases, and visualisations.The text situates these considerations in the broader context of European and nationalinitiatives advocating for the reform of research evaluation and assessment, such asDORA, CoARA, and the Manifesto of Open Humanities. Finally, the author highlights theneed for systematic collaboration among various stakeholders to create a fairer and moreeffective system of research assessment.
