Summary/Abstract: The article analyzed the social dimensions of contemporary WWW technologies and their impact on library activities. Emphasis is placed on issues relating to: the emergence and development of Web 2.0 (social networks) and Web 3.0 (Semantic Web); Web search engines and their improvement; evolution of library Web platforms (Library 1.0, Library 2.0, Library 3.0) and their user profiles; role of libraries to improve information services online, as well as key components of modern library network resources and services.
