Summary/Abstract: This study discusses the Nativity of the Theotokos as the beginning of the world’s salvation, as this theological concept is reflected in the hymnography of the Feast on September 8. The introduction presents historical background concerning the origins and development of the Feast. The second and most extensive part of the study focuses on the hymnography of this Feast, emphasizing the theological ideas embedded within it, which highlight the Virgin Mary’s birth as the initial act of humanity and the world’s salvation.
