Summary/Abstract: History, like time, involves not only the past but also the present and the future. If we were to engage in a biological comparison, we could say that the past is the root that gives stability, the present is the trunk that maintains the structure of the whole tree, and the branches are the projection of a more or less distant future. The phenomenology of time translates the above into three notions: memory, retention and protention. We find them in what we call the musicality of time. However, in order to discuss lucidly the European project in full swing, and to intuit the fugue lines of this social carrier that produces history in real time, it is important to do, from time to time, an exercise in memory. Why is it so necessary? The answer is logical deduction: so as not to disconnect us from our vital source, from our roots. And the roots are the Christian religion and the culture it has produced and which has shaped our society in concrete terms.
