Summary/Abstract: An extensive amount of research has already been conducted in the field of business process management (BPM). The key to achieving relevant and expected results in this area is the application of modern BPM methods in the current era of digitalization. However, it remains questionable how economically efficient it is to invest in improving production processes using digitalization or control systems and whether optimal solutions can be found for companies. The aim of the paper is to reveal, in connection with these facts, to what extent the field of business processes is made up of various works and to examine trends, as well as practical application in a specific engineering company. The research analysis used a bibliographic method supplemented by a practical procedure that supports the understanding of all elements and connections of the research conducted. Based on the results obtained from the case study in selected company, it can be stated that the proposed automated production process is more efficient than the existing production process. The proposed solution is capable of significantly accelerating the company's production process, increasing production flexibility, and at the same time increasing overall production and generated profit.
