Summary/Abstract: It is generally acknowledged that the role of being a parent is perhaps the most challenging job there is, even though initial training is not considered necessary for successfully fulfilling the parental roles. In order to achieve the success we desire and support ourselves in finding that authentic balance “between imposition and the freedom to choose, between support and pressure, protection and independence, rights and responsibilities”(Vrăsmaș, 2008) in the education of our children. This article aims, through the analysis of a case study, to discuss the influence of educational styles within the family on the development of the personality of young schoolchildren, recognizing that, once school begins, significant changes occur in their personality. The expectations of the parents and their educational practices will shape the child’s beliefs about their abilities and behavior, about who they are and what they could become.
