Summary/Abstract: This paper examines peer-to-peer lending in relation to Directive (EU) 2023/2225, considering Slovak Republic specifics. It analyzes peer-to-peer lending in Slovakia, focusing on: the nature of peer-to-peer lending entities; the strictness of legislative regulation; the corporate nature of service providers; and controversial aspects in court decision-making. The study addresses the lack of studies assessing peer-to-peer lending legislative regulations in individual countries and aims to fill this knowledge gap. The authors hypothesize that peer-to-peer lending should be regulated at the EU level with a specific, directly applicable, and binding regulation.
