Summary/Abstract: This article examines the transformations of Sibiu theatre from historical, aesthetic, and pedagogical perspectives, focusing on the cultural continuity of the German theatre, the internationalization brought by the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), and the postdramatic orientation of actor training at the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu. The !rst part analyses the identity-building and pedagogical role of the German section of the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Sibiu, seen as a cultural bridge between the Habsburg past and the multicultural present. The second part explores FITS as a space of symbolic negotiation between European theatre and new performative aesthetics within the postdramatic paradigm. Finally, the article re"ects on contemporary theatre pedagogy, where corporeality, stage presence, and nonverbal skills and expression become central to the actor’s training process, illustrating a postdramatic vision of performance. Through this trajectory, the study argues that Sibiu theatre constitutes a vital laboratory for understanding the convergence of tradition, experimentation, and internationalization in contemporary Romanian theatre.
