Summary/Abstract: Criminal courts are often faced with the situation where, in cases of offenses against property, the civil party does not submit evidence to prove the value of the material damage caused by the crime. In theft offenses in particular, victims often do not submit documents to prove the value of the stolen goods. This article examines possible solutions in such cases. In doing so, it will provide theoretical clarification on the standard of proof applicable to civil actions in criminal proceedings, an issue that is less frequently discussed in legal literature. Finally, a series of concrete examples specific to civil actions in criminal proceedings will be assessed regarding the interpretation of evidence and establishing whether the standard of proof is beyond reasonable doubt.
