THE OBLIGATION TO ENSURE SAFE AND HYGIENIC CONDITIONS FOR HEALTH SERVICES IN THE CONTEXT OF PATIENTS’ INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL BEHAVIOR

Summary/Abstract: In recent years, the role of physiotherapists in healthcare has grown, which has highlightedthe issue of inappropriate sexual behavior by patients toward them. The article analyzes how currentlegal regulations can assist employers in preventing such behavior and improving the safety of physi-otherapists. Due to the limited number of studies on the issue of inappropriate sexual behavior bypatients toward physiotherapists and in order to bring attention to the problem, the article presentsresearch findings that indicate the prevalence of this issue, not only in physiotherapy but also acrossvarious medical specialties. It highlights the need for the implementation of formal protocols, train-ing, and psychological support for healthcare workers. The article emphasizes the importance ofintegrating knowledge about inappropriate patient sexual behavior (IPSB) into occupational healthand safety training and risk assessment procedures, calling for further research and the developmentof protective policies to better safeguard healthcare workers against inappropriate patient behavior.The article proposes changes to the legal regulations regarding inappropriate sexual behavior of patients.
