Summary/Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly important tool in thefield of cybersecurity. Its use brings many benefits, such as faster detection andresponse to threats, but at the same time creates new challenges. The imple-mentation of AI, which is a catalyst for the development of technology, is abreakthrough moment in economic, social and political processes. However,in the hands of cybercriminals and hostile states, it can further complicate thenature of cybersecurity. Implementation of AI will not automatically make thedigital world a safer place, and may even have effects opposite to those in-tended. The most important cyber threats that the use of AI brings result froma significant expansion of the plane for attacks and vulnerabilities. Offensiveactions in cyberspace using this technology will be more frequent, automatedand more insidious, while their detection and identification of perpetrators willbecome even more uncertain and complicated. The article deals with the roleof AI in cybersecurity, analyzing both the possibilities of its application as anattack vector and the challenges related to its use. The aim of this work is topresent the results of the analysis of issues related to artificial intelligence andthe possible applications of this technology in cybersecurity. Various aspectsthat organizations, scientists, and security specialists face have been presented. This diversity of individual sources of knowledge allows for a multi-faceted comparison of often different approaches and a holistic view of the main re-search problem formulated in the form of an open question: what are the chal-lenges of using artificial intelligence in cybersecurity?
