Summary/Abstract: If, following a medical and psychosocial assessment, it is found that a person's mental faculties have deteriorated, measures must be taken to protect that person, by appointing a guardian, with a view to exercising his or her civil capacity and rights and freedoms. Special guardianship is a protective measure intended for a person of full age, which must be taken when the deterioration of the person's mental faculties is total and permanent and it is necessary for him to be continuously represented in the exercise of his rights and freedoms.
