Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to analyse the impact that the Directive 2019/1158/CE on work life balance for parents and carers and repealing Council Directive 2010/18/EU has on the professional and private life of workers in the member states and the way Romania’s authorities implemented the Directive 2019/1158/CE in the national law. Establishing boundaries between professional and private life turns out to be very challenging nowadays, given the reality at hand, as today we can say there are no borders between the two spheres of workers’ life: work and private life. As such, it remains to be assessed whether and to what extent the new regulations are able to bring concrete improvements for the balance between the professional and private life of the Directive's addressees.
