Summary/Abstract: By starting the war against Ukraine, the Russian Federation has entered a new phase in the implementation of its foreign policy regarding the former Soviet space. Beyond its propaganda and narratives, intended for both domestic and international audiences in order to legitimize its aggressive actions, Moscow has done nothing but escalate its hostile behavior, established for more than 20 years, seeking to install its hegemony in the former Soviet space. The objective of this article is to identify the threats and risks that the Republic of Moldova is facing in the context of the war against Ukraine, as well as the new opportunities for the Moldavian leadership to leave the Russian sphere of influence and accelerate the process of country’s integration into the great European family.
