Summary/Abstract: The Eneolithic period in the East-Carpathian area is still under-researched, new discoveries come to complete the map of sites attributed to this period. The aim of this article is the Lopatnic site in the Edinet district, known since 1966, has been generally attributed to the Late Trypolian phase, but the new materials collected in 2023 come to shed light on the state of preservation of the culture layer, the degree of derangement of the dwellings, but more importantly the chronological attribution. Important is the fact that after analyzing the pottery it was possible to delimit two stages of habitation, one attributed to the Brînzeni communities and the other to the Horodiștea-Gordinești tradition-bearers. What we have observed allows us to make some conclusions about the succession of the cultural groups of the Late Eneolithic, which some specialists have already realized in the early 80s.
