Summary/Abstract: The present study focuses on the complex relationship between domestic fruit production and the variety of fruit species and plays an important role in understanding fruit imports in agriculture. Using advanced economic and statistical methods, the research provides a detailed analysis of the economic efficiency of production, assessing the impact of imports on domestic production and whether they complement or compete with local industries. The research also investigates how fruit import decisions can affect domestic agricultural sectors. Domestic fruit imports are also analyzed, as they are influenced by factors such as consumer preferences, regulations and biosecurity measures. These issues are crucial for countries aspiring to develop fruit trade. The study highlights the complexity of the international fruit trade and the need for an integrated strategy to maximize economic benefits. By identifying the economic relationships and agricultural infrastructure between imports and fruit production, the research can contribute to the implementation of more efficient and responsible agricultural practices in Romania compared to the European Union.
