Summary/Abstract: Teaching and learning are the two sides of the educational process. The teacher – perceived as a person who, in addition to teaching, must apply an individual approach to each student, understand the emotional state of each child, be able to create a positive learning environment and follow the curriculum, taking into account their needs and interests. In practical training as future teachers, students are confronted with the increasing aggression among students, the lack of tolerance and respect for others, and accordingly the question arises: how to deal with such behavior?; how to control emotions and maintain a positive state of mind? This article presents the results of a study of emotional intelligence of students - future biology teachers from the majors Biology and Chemistry, Geography and Biology, Pedagogy of Science Education. Using a self-assessment questionnaire, students rated their emotional awareness, management of their own emotions, selfmotivation, empathy, and relationship management. The results were associated with a desire for fulfilment and at the same time concerns about how well they would cope with aggressive and problematic student behaviour.
