Summary/Abstract: This year, on May 9 (a day full of significance), both for the European Union and for Romania) has taken place in Sibiu the first Informal Meeting of the Heads of State or Government hosted by Romania, almost 12 years after Romania became a member of the UE. In this context, we appreciate that it is of interest to take a general look at the different roles the European Council fulfills within the European Union's institutional set-up.
