Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the production, trade, and consumption of wax and wax candles in the early modern period in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Unlike in Western European countries, wax was not widely used in the Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth and was mainly utilized for candle making. The article provides an in-depth analysis of the subject, drawing on a variety of primary sources, including registers of Lithuanian customs offices, bills, inventories, agronomic treaties, and other relevant materials. By examining the most significant trends and changes that occurred in these three segments between the 16th and 18th centuries, the article aims to shed light on the historical context and usage of wax in the region.
