Summary/Abstract: The article examines the process of updating the total apologetics — the type ofapolo getics of Christianity developed by Wincenty Kwiatkowski. In the first part, the author discusses the course of this process, which took place from 1937 to 1972and was then interrupted. Therefore, the author asks whether various elements ofKwiat kowski’s apologetics could, after more than five decades, now be updated. In thesecond part, the author hypothesizes that one such element, namely, the argument“from counter-reaction” regarding the historical credibility of the gospels, could currentlybe updated, as contemporary scholarship offers sources and insights that makethis possible. The author then verifies this hypothesis by juxtaposing the argument“from counter-reaction” with the recent historical research. In this way, the articleestablishes a foundation for initiating a discussion about the possibility of updatingKwiatkowski’s work in the present day.
